Job Responsibilities

Oversee their assigned production area, organize and monitor breaks for employees, provide conflict management, coach and train employees, and monitor production output throughout the day. Maintenance Mechanic - Prairie du Chien, WI

Job Description

Prairie Industries, Inc. is hiring a 1st Shift Maintenance Mechanic. The hours for the position are Monday through Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Experience with new product development processes is preferred. Must be able to read and understand blueprints, manuals and schematic drawings. PLC programming experience is a plus. Applicants must be dependable, self-motivated and willing to work overtime. This position requires an Associate degree in an appropriate technical field of study and/or a minimum of 2 years maintenance experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.

This position requires a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience preferably in a manufacturing environment, general shop knowledge of hand/ power tools, industrial/ commercial wiring, basic machine shop knowledge, welding/ soldering/ brazing, blueprints and diagrams, PLC trouble shooting/ programming, electronics, part fabrication and the ability to work in a self-directed work environment.

General Laborer - Prairie du Chien, WI

We are currently accepting applications for seasonal and permanent general labor employees.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be in good physical condition, as standing for prolonged periods of time, bending, lifting and kneeling are regular requirements of this position.

  • Must report any and all machine problems to maintenance and the Production Supervisor immediately.

Standards of Performance

The General Laborer is responsible for all of the above requirements. The General Laborer is expected to work 40 or more hours per week and will be evaluated on key production measures to assist in the operation and ensure overall quality and success of Prairie Industries, Inc. Maintenance Supervisor - 3rd shift - Boscobel,WI

Job Description

  • Manage the resources on all shifts to achieve the expected outcome for scheduled production.
  • Encourage and promote the culture of cooperation and teamwork among the Maintenance team.
  • Develop the maintenance staff into a cohesive unit that understands the importance of all policies, work instructions and procedures related to food packaging.
  • Ensure that all personnel on all shifts comprehend the purpose and understand the need for following all company GMP’s, Quality Procedures, Safety Procedures and Policies.
  • Work with Engineering as to new equipment installation, new processes and help facilitate them through completion.
  • Work with Maintenance Coordinator to schedule all necessary maintenance and maintain a cost effective operation.
  • Promote Safety for all employees and minimize workplace injuries.

Required Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of 5-10 years maintenance experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Five years of hands-on experience performing maintenance, preventative maintenance and service work on production equipment.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Education and/or training beyond high school.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and applicable legal issues pertaining to food products.
  • Experience with new product introduction processes common in the food industry.
  • Familiarity with HACCP procedures.
  • Must have experience with computers, spreadsheet and word processing software.

Maintenance Technician - 2nd shift
Levels II, III, & IV - Boscobel, WI

Job Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Adhere to all GMPS, food safety, regulatory (USDA) and company policies, procedures, work instructions and employee expectation requirements that support food safety and food defense.
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs production machinery.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs defective machines.
  • Installs new or repaired parts, following specifications and blueprints, using proper measuring instruments and tools.
  • Maintains and repairs building equipment and physical structures, including electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoots and installs or repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of facility.
  • Assist Operators in startups of production machinery.
  • Facilitate startups by repairing or replacing defective machinery and equipment in a timely manner.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, welders, hoists, forklifts, and measuring and testing instruments to repair or fabricate components for repairs, modifications or installations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, using rags, brushes, oil and grease guns.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment, using electrical and electronic test equipment.

This position requires a minimum of 2 years maintenance experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. Nu-Pak, Inc. offers a full benefit package. Based on experience applicants will have the opportunity to earn between $13-$23/hr.
